October 1st Meetup

I've been trying to do some thinking on the meetup. I've got a few suggestions for location. Red Deer has a Farmers Market on Saturdays in the downtown area. The Farmers Market is just east of Red Deer Lodge off of 51st Ave in the downtown area. The downside is that it's only open until noon. The city also has a large park network that runs along the river. I'm not familiar with it though. There is a website for the city: Red Deer . If anyone wanted to look and see if they could find something else. Here's a Map of the city.

meetup in red deer

I thought I would start a new topic for this so we can try and firm up dates for a Red Deer meetup and suggestions for where we would meet and so on and so forth.  I am not so good at organizing these sorts of things but that is what the commenting is for ;-)

I like the idea of a centralized meeting place to get the ABPhotobloggers and all their lovely cameras together.  So ... thoughts, dates ???

C-town meetup

hi folks, i'm trying to get a few people together for a c-town photoblogger meetup end of this week. the time would be august 27 in the early afternoon (1pm). i know dusty (from heremydear.com) is in calgary this week and ren might drive down for the day so this could be a good time to get people together. we could grab a coffee at cafe beano on 17th avenue and either hang out or go do some shooting after. will this work?

Edmonton Flickr Meetup

Though I do definitely want to attempt an alberta photobloggers meetup sometime in the future, likely Fall, there is an upcoming Edmonton Flickr Meetup scheduled.  The details are as follows:

  • Saturday, July 16 at 2:00 pm
  • Hawryluk Park

Duke and I are definitely going and I hear it is supposed to be a beautiful warm day so should be fun.  I am looking forward to meeting fellow flickrites and hopefully some photobloggers as well (hint hint), lol.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer - sure is a busy one!

busy summer

Hi ya'll!  Welcome to the busiest summer ever!  I suspect it is the same for everyone.  That said, I was pointed to this little gem over at flickr.  An edmonton flickr meet up - organized by someone else - woot!  It is actually on days that I might be able to attend even as it is before I head out on vacation.

If you live in Edmonton, check it out - could be fun and would love to meet up with some of you!

meet up

Birdie, thanks for the heads up with your post on alberta meetup.  I checked it out but I think it is time to also attempt to organize some sort of alberta photoblogger meetup.

I meet for tea and most excellent conversation with Dale from spunwithtears when we can (usually every couple of months) and it is always wonderful to discuss photography and photoblogging and all things in the universe.  Recently, I had the extremely good fortune to meet Jen from photojenic while she was up from Muskoka with her husband.  I say good fortune because Jen is one of those beautifully warm people that are so wonderful to talk to as evidenced by our four hour long coffee :)  It was great fun to talk with her about photography, photoblogging, life and well you know four hours worth of talk.  In both cases, meeting fellow photobloggers was so wonderfully positive - and great fun to talk with those who have similar interests.

I consider myself extremely blessed because I also happen to live with a couple of photobloggers so geekery and photo snaps abound but I want to meet all of you who inspire me so much.  I had a brief email with Chris about a meetup before my life got so busy that I let everything sit on the back burner and we didn't know if it was feasible or realistic to get everyone together the first time.  I think eventually, it would be cool to meet somewhere central if we can at all swing it though.  I think this is something that would be fun to do on a fairly regular basis though, well as regular as can be managed.

I thought I would start small and suggest an edmonton meetup for us edmonton folks and anyone else who happens to be in the area.  We could do one of the following:

  1. pick a place to meet and talk, coffee, tea or whatever.
  2. pick a place to meet and do a photoshoot.
  3. or combine the above ...

thoughts? dates? interest in doing this?

sidenote: Duke, Aiden and I are going to be touring Alberta in a few weeks time and I thought it might be fun to get together with as many of you all that we can.  If you are interested, pop me an email and we can try and figure something out as I am in the process of planning the big Alberta camping road trip.  wheee!
